How PGX Daily Ultra Matrix Works

According to Natural Factors Nutritional Products handout this is how PGX works.

The dietary fibre in PGX improves insulin sensitivity and reduces the health risks associated with insulin resistance.

When taken shortly before a meal, PGX absorbs water and expands, substantially increasing the viscosity (thickness) of food in the digestive tract.  This slows the absorption of carbohydrates, effectively lowering the glycemic index of the food.  By slowing the release of glucose into the bloodstrem, PGX smoothes out the peaks and crashes of the unhealthy blood sugar roller coaster.  This helps you feel full longer and reduces food cravings, between meal snacking and weight gain.

PGX also increases the volume of your meal without significantly increasing the calories.  By increasing the volume of food in your stomach, PGX makes you feel fuller, which makes it easier to eat less and lose weight.

The beneficial effects of soluble dietary fibre are directly proportional to the amount of water the fibre can absorb.  The unique combination of fibres in PGX can bind several hundred times its weight in water and stomach fluids, far more than other soluble fibres like psyllium or oat beta-glucan.  PGX Daily Ultra Matrix Softgels represent a new frontier for helping you achieve and maintain metabolic health.

For best results take PGX daily 15-20 minutes before meals with 375 ml of water.

Week 1: 1-2 softgels 3 times per day
Week 2: 2-4 softgels 3 times per day
Week 3 +: 3-6 softgels 3 times per day

Seems to me the dosage recommendations keep changing?!?

Finding the Time vs. Making the Time

Do you find it hard to have time to exercise?  I am constantly trying to find time to exercise rather than making time to exercise.  Of course it would be better if I could make time to exercise but with three kids under 7 years old and a full time job it is not going to come easy.

I am not saying this is enough but these are some of the ways I have been finding time for exercise.
  • While waiting for my oil change I walked over to the community center for a swim.
  • Playing follow the leader with my kids.  Trying to do everything those kids do for 15 minutes has me sweating.  I make sure I do everything they do even if it means crawling on the floor!
  • Riding a spin bike while watching TV.
  • My sons have the same piano teacher so when one is having their lesson I walk with the other to a play ground or around the block.  When the first lesson is done I walk again with my other child.  I get 1 hour of exercise instead of sitting in the car.
  • Taking the stairs.
  • Doing yard work or house work.
Please feel free to comment with your ideas.

Still going but at least I'm not growing

I have been managing to keep a steady body weight which is great. The bad news I have not been able to lose the last ten pounds.
